Through good and tough times, as a woman, it is important to be in constant communication with God through prayer. What is a prayer journal?
A prayer journal is an amazing platform to document and record all your hopes, desires, and blessings throughout life. Prayer journaling can either be in writing, doodling, drawing, coloring, painting, etc. Whatever speaks to you deep down.
Moreover, prayer journaling is a special way to be intentional and real in communicating with God directly about what you’re going through in every season of your life.

Therefore, if you want to be your most successful self, then it is important to start documenting your journey now.
What is the purpose of a starting prayer journal?
There is a ton of benefits of writing down your prayers in a journal. Here are the 5 main purposes of a prayer journal.
1. Finding focus, clarity & direction in your life
The first purpose of a prayer journal is to help you find focus and clarity with the goals that you set for yourself. When you start a prayer journal, you will be able to look at your life with a close lens.
You will have to dig deep down in your soul to figure out how to become the best version of yourself. Like what you really want God to do in your life today, tomorrow, and in the future.
Therefore, by asking God for direction through prayer, you will be able to set SMART goals for yourself that are focused and aligned with God’s purpose for you.
Moreover, through a prayer journal, you will be able to declutter and simplify your life to focus more on what serves you and ditch what brings you down.

2. Manifesting your successful future self
The second purpose of starting a prayer journal is to manifest your future successful self. If you don’t who will?
To be a successful woman, you have to dream every day, envision your most successful self, and remind yourself of your purpose in this world.

With focus and clarity, your prayer journal will help you document your journey to success through faith. For example, when you write down your prayer to become a millionaire, and then it happens 5 years later. That’s a manifestation through faith.
3. Dealing directly with your deep emotions
As a woman chasing success, you will face a lot of negative emotions such as fear, doubt, embarrassment, insecurities, and failure. Of which, this is super NORMAL.
And you may not feel comfortable oversharing with girlfriends, family, or social media. Or you may not afford therapy and maybe your significant other is tired of listening to you.
But that doesn’t mean you should deal with life alone because you can’t face your deep emotions. It gets crazy, sis!
Therefore, the third purpose of starting a prayer journal is to deal directly with your emotions as a woman. Like just being able to tell God how it is. No sugar coating, no making it look glamorous, but just speaking your mind out.
Because guess what, He listens and doesn’t tell. And most of all, He understands what you are going through without judgment because He loves you.
4. Becoming confident in yourself
I don’t know about you, but I am always more confident in myself when I know that I have been praying for it. Therefore, the fourth benefit of starting a prayer journal is becoming a confident woman in life.
When you know you have asked for something through prayer and faith, and you have a backup of evidence in your prayer journal, let me tell you, nothing can stop you.
This is because, you are just waiting for God’s timing, which is hands down the best. Therefore, when opportunities present themselves, you will confidently know what’s for you and what’s not for you.
Sis, nothing can give you more confidence as a woman, than knowing that God has your back through that prayer journaling communication going on with Him.
5. Having a positive outlook in life
Having a prayer journal is just not about asking God about what you want in life, but also being thankful for what He has already done and what He is going to do.
So, the fifth benefit of starting a prayer journal is having a positive outlook on life. This is because of the daily reminder that He has been faithful through it all in the past.
Therefore, writing everything that you’re grateful for, or crossing off a checklist of things you have been praying for, will bring happiness and positivity to your life.

Step 3: Determine your prayer journal frequency
The third step is determining how often you would like to start journaling in prayer. Is it every 5 years, every year, every month, every week, or daily?
It really doesn’t matter what frequency you choose, but with prayer journaling one of the most important things you must maintain is discipline.
In my suggestion to help you be successful in life, I think you should prayer journal 3 things every year, every month, and every day.
This matches my concept of goal planning to achieve success. Journaling, as well as goal setting in this frequency, will simplify everything and make you be intentional with your prayer.

At the beginning of the month, start writing down in your journal 3 things you’re praying for that month.
Daily prayer journal
Every day of the week, start writing down 3 daily prayers to God in your journal. It could be thanksgiving, requests, adoration, etc.
All in all, it is best to prayer journal on a daily basis to maintain focus and be ahead of any situation that may come your way.
Step 4: Just start journaling
Once you have your prayer journal ready and you have determined the frequency, now it’s time to just start journaling. Let all your thoughts flow, and communicate with God without any limits. Just pour your heart out.
Nevertheless, remember to set daily reminders, and keep of track your prayer journal in your calendar.

Step 5: Learn how to keep a prayer journal
This is the best part lol! For anyone who’s had any diary of sorts, (BTW I’m calling out most ladies, Haha!) we’ve always worried that someone will find it and read all our secrets. This is super me, I am sure I am not alone here.
Therefore, the best way for women to keep a prayer journal is to find a great place that is private and organized.
A great example was from the movie war room by Priscilla Shirer, where she created a nice prayer and journaling room in her closet to pray for her broken marriage.
So, if you have enough space, you can create a prayer journaling space in your home. Make it private, cozy, and organize it to meet your prayer needs. Whatever it is that will bring you closer to God.
Moreover, find a way to put your prayer journal nicely away. Can you lock the room? or if it’s a shared space, maybe you can get a filing cabinet with a lock.
To be honest, I think it is essential to keep your prayer journal between you and God so that it doesn’t limit your prayers and thoughts.
